Welcome to ASBMB @ UNM!

 

We are the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The University of New Mexico--a chartered student organization for biochemistry majors.  We provide fun and interesting activities, while promoting a deeper understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology.

 

Biochemistry and molecular biology are vital for creating life-saving medicines and health practices, more efficient agricultural methods, safer industrial products, and sustainable environmental remedies.   These interdisciplinary sciences provide preparation for research and development, clinical practice, consultancy, and education-- informing biomedical advances that serve population wellness, national security, and global biodiversity.

 

Our organization maintains an inclusive, open workshop atmosphere that encourages skill building at all levels-- offering opportunities for improved academic success, more meaningful community involvement, and more dynamic leadership and career skills.  By integrating peer support, faculty mentorship, and professional networking we strive to help students optimize their undergraduate experience and establish patterns for lifelong achievement.  

 

We collaborate constantly so that our strategies remain flexible enough to accommodate changing needs.  Anyone with an interest in integrative life sciences is welcome at our meetings and events.
